Google implements changes to their search engine algorithm.

Google is the worlds largest search engine, with a corporate stock value of in excess of 200 billion dollars (Approximately 1/3 that of Microsoft Corporation). The company recently modified their search engine algorithm which has negatively effected PageRank of thousands of web sites world wide. While PageRank is a google invention in the first place and was not intended to be used for determining value of a web site many webmasters have used this ranking to determine the value of a page when it comes to placement of advertising links.

PageRank could be determined though a browser plug in to most of the major browsers. If a PageRanked page linked to an outside related web page it would give the receiving page a certain amount of credibility. That amount of credibility was directly related to the number of links on the page that linked to the related site as well as the number of links on the referring page as well.

The changes Google hasmade are being felt worldwide. For your convenience I have some links to recent news articles addressing their recent modifications to the algorithm.
